Medicare is how people 65 and over and individuals who are disabled (by Social Security and the Rail Road Retirement Board, after the waiting period) get medical insurance in the United States of America.

Note that as you approach your 65th birthday you only  have 3 month prior to and three months after (for a total of 7 months to sign up for Medicare and any Supplemental with a part D plan  or  a Medicare Advantage health plan.

If you are employed with a large employer (more than 50 employees)  and you want to contune working and getting your medical insurance you can do so without penalty. If you continue your group coverage at work you will have a more limited window to get on your “own plan” when you “retire”. Note you could have access to a company sponsored retiree plan as well.

In any event you will have some important things to consider. The reason I am writing this now is to alert people to seek out help and advice from a licensed professional who you can talk and meet with.  Our office is in the Houston TX area (Sugar Land)   Please feel free to contact us for a  consultation meeting in our office.
