In most cases it is best to get this coverage with your individual or group health insurance.  However, stand alone dental and vision plans for individuals and families are available.

Disability insurance can be either be short term (less than 2 years) or long term (longer than 2 years) and can provide coverage until retirement age and can be coordinated with Social Security or other government benefits.

Life insurance protection consists of two main types, term or permanent.   Term life insurance is the most cost-effective for today, but  will only provide coverage for a specific period of time (10 – 30 years).  Permanent life insurance can be either whole or universal life.  For example, while term life insurance  includes either annual renewable term or level term, permanent life insurance includes whole life, universal life, or second-to die.  Each individual’s situation should be reviewed to determine the best coverage for your needs.

LTC  is protection for living into old age when people often need help with the basic activities of daily living.  In addition this coverage can be used while recovering from an accident or illness at any age.  Long term care can protect not only you but your assets and estate.
