Medicare, the word and meaning  can mean different thing to different people. For most people this is the way people over 65 can get health insurance, since 1965.

When people who have legal status (Citizens and others) living in the USA. for the most part can enroll in Medicare health Insurance at age 65 and beyond. IE the Red White & Blue Card.

At age 65 (3 months prior – your birth month and 3 months after) is your Initial Enrollment Period (IEP). If you have group insurance (most common from and employer) you can sign up (enroll) in medicare when you retire, leave employment and are post 65. If you are beyond the Initial Enrollment period have 63 day or two months.

Contact our  West Houston are office  at  ( 713-481-6501 ) or if you work with an Insurance professional who works with Medicare do contact that person or company. It is a little complicated but very important.

Please note we meet with people by appointment only.

If you did not sign up at age 65 and you missed signing  up when you left your employer post age 65 you have to wait for (like at work open enrollment) or  the General Enrollment Period (Jan 01- March 31) . When you sign up you will be effective on the first of the month following the date you did sign up. So if you sign up on 03/27 you are effective on  04/01.

Important if you miss the window of time to sign up. You have to wait till the next “General Enrollment Period” or Open Enrollment. to do so. And yes you will have to pay an extra price for being late.
