November is Diabetes Awareness month.

 

Support Diabetes Research

 

This is a time to look at ourselves and loved ones to see what we can do to try to prevent, if we can, the growing tide of diabetes in this  country and in our world.

Yes there are things we can do for real with diet and exercise.

How can American Diabetes Month make a difference?

We can use this month to raise awareness about diabetes risk factors and encourage people to make healthy changes.

Here are just a few ideas:

  • Make small changes be more active during the day, keep moving.
  • Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Take a walk to get lunch.
  • Do anything to keep our bodies active, take a walk around the office every hour or so.
  • Have a  regular doctor checkup. They can get their blood pressure and cholesterol checked, and ask the doctor about their diabetes risk.
  • Give blood a few times per year and you will get get some of the basic health screenings done and help others with your gift of life.
